Russell is a seasoned consultation and stakeholder relations professional with over 15 years of on the job experience. He has worked in a leadership capacity for most of his career.  Russell has extensive experience conducting engagement and consultation in Northeastern Alberta, having previously served as Manager, Industry Relations for the Mikisew Cree First Nation. He works with all industry partners and Indigenous communities in the Region on a wide variety of issues related to Industry development and its impact(s) on McMurray Métis.

Over the course of his career, Russell has worked with almost all departments of the Government of Canada as a research and consultation advisor. On the provincial side in Alberta, he has extensive experience with the departments of Indigenous Relations, Alberta Environment and Parks and the Alberta Utilities Commission.

A native of Newfoundland, Russell has an undergraduate degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland, where he studied political science,  history and business.  In his spare time Russell enjoys being out on the land hunting and fishing with his father and son.
