VELMA JELLY

Biography

Velma is one of three generations of her family born and raised in Fort McMurray. She attended Keyano College to become a Journeyman Electrician. Through Saint Francis Xavier University she also got her certification in adult education. She started at Suncor in 1994 and has worked in various leadership and safety roles. She is currently a warehouse supervisor and an Indigenous Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo Chapter Lead for the Journeys Network. As a proud member of McMurray Métis Local 1935, experiencing the hard work, dedication, true heart and soul that comes from the Council, staff and members, Velma is honored to now serve on Council as Treasurer. She looks forward to working with Local Council to accomplish the mission and goals of the organization through service focused on connection, accountability, and respect.
